Summer notes
drift through the leaves – to my porch swing
Lately I,
I see you everywhere
Dark and Light
and every shadow in between
Cherry oaks
I have seen on my evening walk
Summer notes
drift through the leaves – to my porch swing
Lately I,
I see you everywhere
Dark and Light
and every shadow in between
Cherry oaks
I have seen on my evening walk
Sunshine sketches
a silhouette
of you and me
on the black street
waiting to cross
into the field
the greenest grass
we’ve ever seen
I’ll tell you what I’m thinking
though you probably know
woman I love the way
you soothe my soul
Last night, on my bike
drinking a draft
of breezes and billows
I played upon the black street
and surely felt God’s pleasure
Someday I’ll build a house
build it tall and strong
and pray that God above
will fill it with his song
I’m always steppin lightly
watching my words
biding my time
forgetting this wind
which delights in my hair
Your water moves, it ebbs and flows
it burns like fire in my soul
it shakes in ways I can’t control
and can’t even explain
The love of God is deep and wide
the heart of God – beauty defined
the love of man’s a fickle tide
why do you love us so?
I wish I knew my father well
maybe one day we’ll sit a spell
stare deep into that holy well
of eyes so blue and grey
All threads belong to
God – who is a grand weaver
with caring artists’ hands
I could ream you if I wanted
but I’ll leave you both alone
just please return the favor
and don’t tell me where you go
We are two, we are one, we are
We are two, we are one, we are
Oh the Lord is good and true
he brought me to you
We are two, we are one, we are
We are two, we are one, we are
We are two, we are one, we are
The Lord, from Adam’s side,
took a rib to make a bride
We are two, we are one, we are
O, Let us sing his praise
my Love, always
and magnify his name
for all our days
We are two, we are one, we are
We are two, we are one, we are
Oh sweet Love of mine
eat the bread and take the wine
Amen
we are one, we are
we are
